HelloGoodbye - Ukulele Recordings EP

As a band synonymous with layered production, and synthesised vocals, Hellogoodbye stand at the pinnacle of an electro-pop scene, spawning hundreds, possibly thousands of imitators. The band though, are in a state of limbo, in a period between touring and recording, and what better way to pass the time than crack out the ukulele?

The short (3 track) EP couldn't be further from the electronic sound which over the years has defined the band, nothing fancy here, largely stripped down to Forrest and his trusty strings. The poppy as ever hooks though, are still here alongside a cover of Buddy Holly's 'Everyday.' Falling short of nine minutes in length, the release is nothing more than a stop-gap as the band record their new full length, in short, something to keep the fans happy. It does however, reveal another previously unseen aspect of the band, whilst maintaining the accessibility of their previous releases, and 'The Thoughts That Give Me The Creeps' really is a great song. The strength of the release is its simplicity; one man, one ukulele and an unmistakeable feel good factor. If you were a never a fan of Hellogoodbye before, throw away any preconceptions you had, as this is an altogether different beast. And a cute one too...

It's hard to hate on Peaches, the glam-shock-princess has been making songs about sex since '95. Although a former school teacher and former college roommate with Feist (yes, Feist used to be the drummer for Peaches) Peaches style does not reflect this by any means. She writes, produces and rocks the sh*t out of her music, this chick may not be the cutest, but what she lacks in looks she makes up in style. And her live performances are the sh*t. RatheMC - Trending Topic

First off, I love twitt-a-holic. With that out the way I gotta love the mixtape title "Trending Topic" as well as the mixtape' cover. Now on to RatheMC, I remember just a year ago I didn't know who she was, my boy Mark Woodford a.k.a. El Solo Dolo was praising her so much (Shout outs to CrabzInaBarrel.com). I still didn't care to be honest, he's one of those "hip-hop forever" guys, and I admit I was one also, back in the day ( lol. I'm still young right) but obviously I aint anymore, so his taste in music isn't always fitting my preference . Eventually that same year I became an intern for Tabi Bonney, a popular DC artist. I came to one of Tabi's shows and thats when I finally got to see RatheMC and hear her music. First off, shawty got style, like crisp nike, no heels style, and her performance was amazing. I later researched her and found an '06 vid of her killing sum track, omg, I never heard a female spit like this.


Yeah, killer right? I'm dont really like many of the DC rappers, but out of the few she is one of my faves. Anyway I became a fan. Check her out. She just dropped a new mixtape.

Tyga - The Potential

I must admit when i bought Tyga's album it was damn near an abomination to all that is respectable music, I actually threw the album away the first day I bought it. The lyrics were mediocre, the production was cliche and his voice was borderline suicide worthy. With all that being said he has remain fairly quiet, I ran across a somewhat new video of his on youtube I regained respect for him as an artist. He finally found a perfect producer for him, better lyrics, and a much more interesting topic. I gave him a second chance and downloaded his free mixtape. I'm impressed by his change, but disappointed because this is the album that his first mainstream album should have been, maybe if that was the case he's be a more respectable rapper to consumers. Well lemme get off my soapbox and tell you to, as always:

I consider myself to be an open lover. This is my flaw and my greatest advantage, but like all lovers we leave ourselves open for heartache. Its kinda like going fishing in your church suit, be prepared to fuck it up in some way. My last relationship which lasted a few years shot down my notorious ego, thus approaching new women feels like jumping 100 hurdles instead of just simply having a conversation. "Damn what did this girl do to him" you may be thinking.... eventually I'll tell you guys when I'm ready.
Its a new semester in college and I'm a free bird, yet I havent mingled or met anyone yet, well except this one girl who's absolutly gorgeous, but I was too pussy to ask for her number, this has happened several times. We'll even talk about sh*t for hours, but I cant get over that last hurdle, I can't form the words "whats your number?" out of my mouth. I think she's caught on and doesn't even look my way when we're in class anymore, I've even made a few comments towards her and she brushes it off now. WTF! YUP I FAILED. If I was in the NFL i'd make the world's record for most fumbles, I loose more balls then a castration office. These days she just passes me by, and all I can ask myself is how long will i remain a lonely nerd. That really sucks.
